Holiday Parent Gifts - Part 2

Well, we’ve definitely brought the holiday cheer in Room 10. Christmas music, Christmas tree math, letters to Santa etc.  However; I am not feeling so cheerful after the start of our parent gift.  My teaching partner was inspired by this beautiful handprint artwork, and we decided to make a calendar out of it.

All I can say is...it will sure be cute when it is finished. But I feel like the mean, old Grinch while we are in the process of creating these beauties.  It's not like it is a lack of preparation either. Each page is pre-hole punched, the paint is pre-poured, and the paper is pre-cut.

Time to Create: LOTS - Be prepared.
Materials Needed:
  • Paint
  • Paper with printed calendar
  • Hole Punch
  • Markers
  • Yarn to bind them all together
To create, simply recreate the images above on paper.  If you are lucky enough to have classroom volunteers this would be an amazing job for them.  Have students mark important dates on the calendar, back them on paper, and bind it all together.  They really do make a beautiful gift that parents will surely treasure despite the headache they bring. If you had more time, getting them laminated would be a nice touch. Here is some of our work!

Stay tuned for a second ornament idea tomorrow!

Love,
Katelyn, Abby & Liesel
