A Day Behind...Teacher Organization!

Well, we all know how crazy things have been this week! We are officially a day behind with "Teacher Week '13" but better late than never!  Here are a few tips from each of us about what is working in our classrooms:

Katelyn

Katelyn has turned her filing cabinets into a fully functional space.  She uses one side as her CAFE board, and the other as an attendance and lunch choice board.  The bonus of using your filing cabinet...it's magnetic!

Liesel

Liesel uses the front side of cabinets as a place for her upper graders to manage their math choices.  The circle boards are chalkboard painted pizza pans from the dollar store (magnetic!).  Students use magnets to show which math group they are in.  The clipboards hold bonus questions and journal prompts, while the ribbon makes a great place to hang math vocabulary words for the current unit.

More math!  Eliminate transition and wasted time hunting for common math supplies.  This year these binder pouches were on sale at Office Depot for $0.01! The math binder also holds a tabbed notebook for notes/vocabulary/journal writing and graph paper in the back for scratch paper.

This is one of Liesel's favorite areas.  These rods and buckets are from IKEA and held on using Command strips.  It utilizes the space on the front of the desk where students can grab writing supplies (sticky notes, highlighters, fun pens, etc).

Abby

Abby has a unique way of keeping track of her activities, plans and extra papers.  Her filer is labeled #1-31 (each day of the month).  Each day she places whatever she used for the day into the appropriate file.  At the end of the month she is left with a collection of activities she can look into for next year!

We hope these are useful tips.  We are excited to read other teachers' organizational tips!

Thank yo again, I'm Blog Hoppin'!
