Upper Grade Classroom Decor

Hi Everyone!

Liesel here from Tricycles and Triangles.  I teach 5th grade, and sometimes it can be difficult to find things for the classroom that are not too "cheesy" for those "highly mature" upper grade students.  Last year I really took some time to make the classroom feel inviting for my kids, and was pretty happy with how it turned out.  While I will make a few changes for this coming year (as soon as I can get into my classroom!), here are a few pictures of things I LOVED!

Simple and easy to manage bulletin board!

Scrapbook paper in frames hung up around the room.  Easy to write objectives/directions on for my adaptation of Daily 5.

My classroom meeting area. When it's cozy the big kids didn't mind sitting on the floor.  We meet here each and every day during literacy block.

Classroom command center!  The birthday board was a gift from my creative Mom, the clipboards were mod-podged with scrapbook paper.

 Back to school night treats!

Giant classroom Scrabble board! I challenge my class to beat me each year...so far only one group has! There are letters in the filing container, and sticky tac in the jar.  We play a daily round each day and it is a wonderful filler to practice vocabulary and spelling!

Classroom library and Daily 6 management board...another post to come on my adaptation of the Daily 5 for upper grade students!

Good luck setting up your classrooms!
